Arishi njo... Shinkolobwe is a drawing performance that combines performance, drawing and storytelling and proceeds through a series of questions asked to the audience. These questions enable a process of extraction from the collective memory around the history of Shinkolobwe, the mine from which the uranium used in the manufacture of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was extracted. The audience's answers are then assembled like pieces of a puzzle to make this memory visible, to visualise it, through the use of slag, a waste product of mining. This method makes it possible to detect errors in the collective memory and repair them through a storytelling process inspired by the local oral tradition of the province of Katanga. Hence the title of this performance.
The title of this work also aims to highlight the essential role of the Congo in the history of the atomic bomb and, therefore, nuclear energy.
